We just completed a Virtual Tour project for White Pines Inn and boy do it look spiffy. The Pines (as we locals refer to them) does an amazing wedding business and they wanted to show off their facilities to potential brides.
We created 8 scenes for the Pines using the Quicktime VR (QTVR) video
format. All you have to do is click and drag to "look" around. The
panning is fluid and resolution is sharp and crisp. What's truly cool
about this is that these are "spherical panoramas". Meaning that the
you see everything around you; up, down and all around.
Upping the cool factor even more is the use of "Hotspots" in our QTVRs
which allow us to link one QTVR to another, thus creating a virtual
tour. It's kinda like the original computer game Myst (sans creepy new
age music). For instance, when you are viewing the Janssen Room QTVR
you will notice that the cursor changes shape when you hover over one
of the doors in the room. When you click there you are taken to the
QTVR for the outdoor reception area called the Garden Canopy which, of
course, is just outside that door. How cool is that! (sorry had to say
it)
Check it out for yourself.

There's an old saying that goes something like this..."the cobbler's children never have a decent pair of shoes". Meaning, of course, that the cobbler fixes his customer's shoes first and somehow never gets around to his kid's shoes. Over the years our Affinity AV web site has suffered a similar fate. So my project developer, Jayne Rose commented last week that our site needed more content. My wise-crack back to her was "add it to the list"...
