Dynamic, eCommunity Website Rebuild
web design & development | event calendar | image gallery | member forum
International Canoe US (visit their site ) - International Canoe is actually a sailing class. Incredibly fast and impossibly difficult to sail IC members are a rare breed among humans. The United States chapter of IC has worked with us now on 2 sites. Our latest rebuild is a conversion over to a completely dynamic content management system based website. They needed their website interact more with their members, allow them to easily publish articles on the site, promote a sense of community within the class and invigorate the class as a whole.
Using a user permission based system, the site is able to publish specific articles and pages for public viewing while keeping other resources available only to registered members. The site is built to empathize community among it's members. Members are able to add personal and sailing specific details to their website profile which is privately published only to class members. We integrated a photo gallery for members to post photos of their boat construction projects and races. A private forum was added to allow members to create and contribute to topical discussions. A document management system was created to allow for an online depository of board meeting minutes and member newsletters. We integrated a event calendar for the publishing of the different meets, races and get-togethers.
As the project lead in this project we created an easy and affordable upgrade path for our client. We converted their previous design layout to our new dynamic site, integrated the large number of components and modules that allows for community building, transfered key content from the past site's MS Access database over to our new site run MySQL database, tested, published and hosted the site. To save the client time and money, their job is to transfer and add the more static content over and to get the members registered into the new site.
