White Pines Inn Virtual Tours (visit their site) - The owner of White Pines Inn came to us with a challenge:

How do I show off my bridal and lodging facilities to potential brides that live outside the area?" Her original thought was to use photo galleries to tackle this problem. While the use of photo galleries would provide good coverage of the properties, they are static, boring and have been "done to death". We suggested a completely different approach.

Virtual Reality Tours. After showing her just one example of how cool a Virtual Reality (VR) presentation can be she signed up. So far we have created 8 VR tours that spotlight 8 areas of her property that make White Pines money.

The VR tours are actually called spherical (or cubic) panoramas and are displayed using Apple's Quicktime format (QTVR for short). We use professional high resolution digital imaging along with software specifically designed to create virtual environments for 3D video games and Hollywood movies. We create the QTVR (which is actually a video file) to be web friendly with a download "weight" of under 2 MB in size. We then upload and insert the QTVR and thumbnail image used for the link into webpage.

VR tours can be linked to each other by embedding a "hot zone" into the VR that when clicked will open another VR tour. So for instance, when you view the Jassen Room VR tour (above) you will notice that your cursor changes shape when you hover over the door to the left of the stage. Click on that door and the VR tour for the Garden Canopy opens up. This kind of interactivity offers so many opportunities for creating new and innovative solutions for our client's needs.

Our VR Tours differ dramatically from the VR or "360" photos you see on Real-estate websites. Their VRs offer limited viewing angles that is restricted to viewing straight ahead vs. being able to look up or down as in our VR tours. Their VRs are created using 1-9 photos. Our VRs are created using 38 - 8 mega-pixel photos. Our VR tours truly capture the environment you want to promote.
